Kelly

This Image is the face of my dear friend Kelly. With all the struggles of a smooth face, it took me nine days to accomplish. The difficulty of drawing a smooth face is not with the edges and lines of a face, but with the shadows and shades; tones I've heard there called, and sometimes the shadows in the picture are, in relation to one another, in a slightly different shade, which makes a big difference in capturing the persons face for it is the work of depicting roundness, curves within the object that these small tones show. But I was able to push through by listening to the Acts of the Apostles and St. Augustine's Confessions (which I was able to finish listening to in the span of the time it took me to finish this sketching.)
